Reputation

This year Oxford Brookes University was once again named as the UK's best modern university for the tenth year in a row. A degree from Oxford Brookes University will provide you with a UK education and a recognised world class quality qualification. Over 20% of our students are international and each year we welcome more from all over the world.

Help and Advice

Before, during and after your studies we take great care to make sure you have all the information and support you need. This includes advice on entry requirements, immigration procedures and accommodation.

Language Support

If English is not your first language then we need to make sure that your level of English is appropriate for the course you have chosen.

If you do not meet the University's English language or academic requirements we offer a range of courses from foundation through to postgraduate level to help you progress on to your chosen degree course as quickly as possible.

We are accredited by the British Council, which monitors standards of teaching, management, resources and welfare in organisations teaching English as a foreign language.

Visas and Immigration

If you are a national of a country which is not in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland you will need to have permission to come to the UK as a student.

Following changes to the UK immigration system in 2009, the university will no longer be issuing visa letters for students to obtain entry clearance. We will now be issuing a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

Arrival and Induction

During ‘Arrival Week’ helpers and advisers from the International Student Advisory Service (ISAS) will help students settle into accommodation and explain about all the different enrolment and induction activities that will take place.

Arrival Weekend usually includes shopping expeditions, social activities to meet other students and a tour of Oxford.  Activities during induction week include meeting staff in your department, meeting students on the same course, campus and library tours, registering with a doctor and collecting your bus pass (if necessary). Workshops in ‘Life as an international student’, ‘Money and Employment’, ‘How to improve English language and study skills’, and ‘How to extend your student visa’ will also be available.
