About the school
The School of Education at Oxford Brookes is one of the largest schools of education in the UK. We combine high quality teaching and significant research and consultancy activity in an outstanding location, with superb sporting, recreational and study facilities.
Our programmes encompass initial teacher training, foundation and undergraduate study and postgraduate degrees in Education and Early Childhood Studies. Our programmes provide preparation for careers in education as well as other professions in the public and private sector, such as educational psychology, social work, human resources and the health service.
The School of Education also offers qualifications to teach in primary, secondary or post-compulsory education. Our Primary and Secondary initial teacher education programmes were recently judged to be of high quality in a recent Ofsted inspection. Our Primary programmes train some 600 new teachers every year and were deemed to be outstanding. We also host a Centre for Excellence in Teaching for the Post-compulsory sector. As one of the UK’s biggest providers of professional development in education, we offer professional certificates, masters degrees and doctorates across a wide range of subject areas and areas of professional application.
The School of Education is a hub for regional cultural and other educational opportunities, such as the Oxford Education Debates, and a seminar and conference series. It works in close partnership with hundreds of schools and colleges and other organisations.
Students come to Brookes from all walks of life to study on campus and at locations such as our partner colleges in the region
Behind all that we do is a commitment to:
- Understanding and developing human potential
- Improving how we learn and the places we learn in
- Creating future leaders for the professions
